Well, what a summer it has been, and there is still more to come!
May saw the band attend the annual May Fayre in Higginson Park, a great family event and the band took the opportunity to both play and have a stall advertising its Training Band. Kids had an opportunity to a few of the band and have a ''Toot'' on a selection instrument. Great time was had by all and the Training Band has received several enquiries!
Blazing June saw the band try a new adventure by performing two pop up concerts on the ''Green'' in the centre of Marlow. Both were very well supported by the good people of Marlow who enjoyed 90 minutes of brass playing.
We are in talks with the Town Council to do a few more next year.
July has seen the band at its busiest first up was the beautiful surroundings of Henley Management Centre for the final Saturday of the Henley Regatta. It was very hot indeed but the band did a great job entertaining the crowds despite the close attention of the World Cup quarter Final!
The weekend of 14th and 15th July dawned with an MTB double header, the Ferrari Club of GB had invited us to their Summer Event at Danesfield House, the ''petrol heads'' in the band were at fever pitch with excitement as there was over 200 classic Ferraris on show.
The band entertained the 500 or so guests as they sipped champagne and pimms!
Sadly no one in the band won the raffle!!
But a great day
Henley Bandstand was next and another scorching hot day, the band coped well as the bandstand provided good shade as did the trees lining the river band for the listeners. MTB as usual was received well.
We now have a short break to rehearse for our annual jaunt to Bournemouth over the weekend of 11th and 12th August 2018 always the highlight of the band year. Bring it on!
The bands final summer event will be at the Wooburn and Bourn End Summer Fayre on September 9th.
A new venture for the band and with our MD on holiday it falls to Steve and Nick to lead the band and training band!
