Spring Charity Concert

Saturday 17th March 2018 dawned cold and snowy, undeterred MTB headed to Flackwell Heath community centre at the invitation of High Wycombe Lions Club for a charity Film & TV themed evening in aid of the Chiltern Music Therapy Charity.

The band was in splendid form opening with the main theme from Z cars, followed by a se;lection of music from the early James Bond films.

The first soloist of the evening saw Ann Marie Fenn Principal Cornet give a soulfull rendition of Cheer Up Charlie from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

The band was delighted to be joined on stage by Louise Child who entertained the full house royally while the band caught their breath.

Two pieced from Les Miserable followed with I Dreamed a dream and the powerful Empty Chairs and Empty Tables brilliantly played by Euphonium soloist Steven Bain, not a dry eye in the house. The first half concluded with the famous Colonel Bogey March from The Bridge over the River Kwai

Following a break for delicious home made food the second half burst into life with an arrangement by the bands Ian Head of the main theme from the ever popular Strictly Come Dancing/

The final soloist showcased was the bands sol horn player Cheryl Heppenstall who delighted everyone with a stunning performance of Over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz

How to train your dragon is not the most well know film but the theme Romantic Flight is a joy to listen to!

Following another set from Louise, the band launched into the great Florentiner March from Brassed Off followed by the ever popular Pure Imagination again from Willy Wonka.

To conclude the band gave a rousing performance of Raiders of the Lost Ark from the Indiana Jones films.

A great evening was enjoyed by the full house and a princely sum of £1,250 raised for such a great charity.

Everyone managed to get home ok with the snow lying deep on the roads.
