Marlow Town Band - Regattas 2005

As is tradition with the Marlow Town Band summer really begins with the comprising of:-
Marlow Town festival 11th June 2005
Marlow International Regatta 18th June 2005
Royal Henley Regatta 3rd & 4th July 2005

The opening regatta held in Marlow's Higginson park is more as the title suggests a festival for the town with some quality rowing thrown in for good measure. To start the proceedings off the bands Chairman Musical Director and principal Cornet attended a civic reception to welcome the new mayor of Marlow into office.

The members enclosure in Higginson Park is brimmed full of expectant revellers and the band duly obliges with a programme of summer favourites. The band is very well received. The band completes it set at 4.30pm leaving the stage free for the remaining artists who contribute long into the night.

The following Saturday the band finds itself at the newly created International Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake where the official Marlow International Regatta de-camped a few years ago. More serious rowing this time but again the band is well received as it entertains along the banks of the lake.

The final leg of the triple-header takes the band to the exclusive surroundings of the Phyliss Court club in Henley adjacent to the finishing line of the Royal Henley Regatta. The order of the day here is a full 3 hour programme split into two for the members and guests of the club. The band is always honoured to play at Phyliss Court and this year was featured in the clubs promotional video, we await the first viewing in due course.
