Marlow Senior Citizens Annual Dinner 2004
The bands winter season concluded in traditional fashion with a concert at the Marlow Town Council OAP's dinner. As is tradition the performance took place at the Great Marlow School and as the band arrived on stage the hall was full to the brim. The band provides the after lunch entertainment and generally plays some old favourites that the audience can sing along to. The usual difficulties with the microphone were soon overcome and the band set on its way with Eric Balls stirring march Star Lake. First soloists of the day were sally Marshall and Paul Terrar alias Frank and Nancy Sinatra in the cornet duet Something Stupid. This item was particularly well received by the audience. Barry Mills (deputising for his poorly wife) on flugel in Goff Richards arrangement of Light As Air. The band concluded with an inspired choice by MD Ian of a selection of tunes from the Second World War. The audience certainly loved this number. A vote of thanks followed by an encore of Michael Pegram's arrangement of the Great Escape and the bands winter season was over for another year. The next two / three months the band re-builds with a whole new programme ready for the summer. The band has said farewell to a couple of long standing members recently in Roy and Val Stallwood after many years service the band would like to place on record its thanks for their contribution over the years.
