AGM 2004

The band held its Annual General Meeting at the Band Hall on Monday 26 January 2004, the meeting was well attended and a vibrant mood was in the air as the meeting commenced 7.45pm sharp. Reports from the various out-going officers showed that once again the band had a successful year both musically and financially. The Chairman Mr Ken Hall and Musical Director Ian Young paid particular tribute to all the members of the band for their hard work and support throughout the year. A new committee was duly elected and the band welcomes two new faces onto the committee this year in Rachel Keift and David Evans. Their contribution is eagerly anticipated. At the AGM two awards are made to recognise the work of the bands members over the year. The first award the ''Roland Ivermee'' shield presented in memory of the late Roland Ivermee who did so much for the band is presented to the band member who has contributed most behind the scenes during the year and is voted for by members of the band themselves.. This years deserved winner was second Euphonium Player Neil Warren for his efforts with the library and also his tireless work in transporting the bands equipment to and from engagements. Congratulations to Neil, thoroughly deserved. The second award is presented by the bands Musical Director Ian Young to the person in his opinion who has contributed most musically to the band over the year. Ian explained that every year this is always a difficult award to make as the bands success is very much a team effort and to single out one individual seems a bit unfair. However needs must and after a very close run contest the bands Principal EEb bass David Evans was chosen. Well done David some glory for the bass section at last!
